Pour Stendhal, au commencement est l\u2019action. C\u2019est \u00e0 partir de l\u2019indispensable action que la psychologie se d\u00e9veloppe. L\u2019action ou l\u2019aventure, rythm\u00e9e par des \u00e9v\u00e9nements impr\u00e9vus, des dissonances qui sont autant de possibles narratifs dans la destin\u00e9e des personnages, contribue au plaisir du roman. Dans les romans de Stendhal, \u00e0 l\u2019exemple de <em>La Princesse de Cl\u00e8ves<\/em>, l\u2019analyse et l\u2019action sont confondues, qu\u2019il s\u2019agisse de moments o\u00f9 l\u2019action est imm\u00e9diate, aussi bien que de ceux o\u00f9 elle est suspendue ou s\u2019att\u00e9nue.
