Pourtant, selon une longue tradition critique, Stendhal aurait r\u00e9serv\u00e9 son talent \u00e0 l\u2019appr\u00e9ciation \u00e9clair\u00e9e d\u2019un cercle restreint d\u2019\u00e9lus, sollicit\u00e9s par la fameuse d\u00e9dicace aux happy few. Marie Parmentier interroge les fondements textuels de la r\u00e9ception de l\u2019oeuvre pour \u00e9laborer une po\u00e9tique de la lecture stendhalienne. Elle montre comment les tactiques d\u00e9ploy\u00e9es en vue d\u2019induire une lecture distanci\u00e9e sont accompagn\u00e9es de celles favorisant, plus discr\u00e8tement, un mode de lecture participatif. C\u2019est ce double jeu qui engage alors l\u2019\u00e9largissement du public choisi par la narration romanesque.
